Not much to see here today, but I am pretty impressed with the quality of the handle/blades provided by Dollar Shave Club. I ordered the Executive, and although the slight color difference between the handle and cartridge is a little annoying, it doesn’t look to shabby. Their starter kit comes with a LENGTHY pamphlet explaining the rules, guidelines, and the history of the company.
Unlike Harry’s, they don’t try to pull off a premium look for their packaging. It’s pretty basic, a cardboard box with little on it. However, the pamphlet was pretty rustic (points for effort?). It kinda got me to think about what matters when it comes to these things. Do the niceties that Harry’s provide really impact the experience of the product?
Not going to lie, if flashy packaging wasn’t a thing, you wouldn’t buy half of the stuff you do now. So I guess it does have some sort of impact. However, I wasn’t too happy with Harry’s because I felt like they had promised so much, and delivered so little. This box on the other hand, is simply just a box with a razor and a cartridge so I’m not expecting much out of it, but maybe my low expectations will allow me to be more willing to accept this razor for what it is.
Major downside- nothing else in the box. Again, just a razor with 4 cartridges. No holder for the razor, and no shaving cream/gel/whatever.
Overall: 2.9/5.
